The auto repair centers are independently owned and operated throughout the US. Autozone has been operating for over 30 years. Expansion up to 1986 made it a large store chain located across the South and the Midwest in the US. In fact, Autozone grew so much, their sales hit $1.5 billion in 1994. AutoZone placed on the Fortune 500 list in 1999, a strong way to end the 1990s.  In 2004, AutoZone announced a corporate sponsorship agreement with NASCAR.
