The very first Bridgestone tire was produced in 1930 in Japan. It produced tires based solely with Japanese technology, ran into some early difficulties but eventually the company diversified into the overseas markets. It even started manufacturing motorcycles at one point however, this proved to be less profitable and they decided to return to manufacturing tires for their competition’s motorcycles. Bridgestone eventually bought Firestone in the late 1980s, making them an even larger tire manufacturer.
Currently Bridgestone has over 47 production facilities in over 24 countries. The company also operates the world’s largest chain of automotive tire and service centers. Bridgestone offers a wide range of tire choices to fit many needs and driving style including tires for motorsport, sports cars, motorcycles and bicycles along with the more traditional types of vehicles. It has also diversified into other markets including: industrial products, bicycles, golf products as well as aircraft tires.
